Access control and time tracking for the Port of Gijón
The challenge
The Port of Gijón wanted its visitors to be able to enter on their own and securely, without physical cards, and needed its staff to log their working hours to comply with labour regulations. All of it on top of its Genetec security system.
What I did
- Visitor registration web app. I designed and built the front end of the application visitors use to register and manage their access from a computer or phone.
- Visitor kiosk. I designed the interface of the entrance kiosk, for visitors who prefer to check in in person.
- Time-tracking screens. I designed and built the touch interface connected to the card reader, where staff log entries, exits, breakfast, travel and work-life balance leave with a single tap.
- Confirmation emails. I designed and coded the automated emails visitors receive before they arrive.
Outcome
- Visits without physical cards: faster and more sustainable access.
- 6 time-tracking screens and 1 visitor kiosk installed, with a consistent interface across the web app, kiosk, screens and emails.
- Automatic, traceable working-hours records, aligned with labour regulations.
